Most projectors come with a limited warranty that only covers depot (carry-in) repairs. If an installed projector requires repair, it will need to be uninstalled, brought to the repair facility and reinstalled after it’s repaired. Meaning that you (the customer) are responsible for the uninstalling and reinstalling since this is not covered by any manufacturer warranty.
Repairs are covered by the warranty but not servicing the equipment and if the reason the equipment fails is found to be from a lack of service or basic maintenance (dirty air filters being the #1 cause) than most manufacturers will not cover the work being done.
Your projector is a piece of electronic equipment – full of circuit boards and sensitive components. These boards and the lamp itself create heat. The projector is cooled by air being pulled from outside through a filter. This filter protects the delicate electronics from dirt and dust. When the filter clogs with dust, the projector cannot cool effectively. This consequence of overheating is expensive, resulting in diminished lamp life and damaged circuit boards and panels. While the lamp is replaceable, the damage to boards and panels is irreversible.
